Classic/Antique Car Repair: 1976 MG Midget Update, battery problem, voltmeter

I check with a meter and the battery is reading 14.13 at an idle.

Jay,
I assume you mean the voltmeter? and I assume you are having some kind of battery problem?
A charge rate of between 13.8 to 14.5 at a fast idle is cansidered normal. However, that is not all there is to it. You need to check it wiht a load, like headlights on too. Also check it at a cruise RPM.
