Classic/Antique Car Repair: 69 Camaro wipers, windshield wiper motor, 69 camaro

Question
My windshield wiper motor has an issue. When i turn it off it is suppose to finish its cycle and stop but it stops where i turn it off and doesnt finish its cycle. Is this the motor or something else? Any suggestions of what i can do? Thanks

Answer
This could be the fault of the motor, but more likely the problem is in your control switch or the wiring from the switch to the motor.

When you turn the wipers off, there is a contact in the switch that feeds 12 volts to a special circuit in the wiper motor that makes it park, then turn itself off automatically after it parks.

On your car, this circuit is not working, so I'd guess that is because the 12 volts is not getting to it.  Check the wires from the switch to the motor- maybe there is a broken wire in the harness.

Of course, if you can get one easily, try another motor, but if that doesn't fix it, you are going to have to track down the wiring or switch problem.
