Classic/Antique Car Repair: MG bucking/surging, charcoal cannister, air mixture

Question
Brian, I asked a question several weeks ago,and your answer solved my problem, for which I thank you for helping.I have a complete original 71 MGB,RDSTR.including all orginal emission gear, with 65000 miles.I recently adusted the CARB mixture adj.,following insructions from a manual purchased from Moss. All is fine on idle and full throttle, but I am having a slight surge, and bucking under light throttle in 3rd and 4th gear, between 2700 and 3000 RPM. As soon as more pedal pressure is applied, its ok.I pulled the plugs and they appear black around tip,but electrode seems ok. plugs are new,and this is all within last 65miles since my "carb adjust adventure" These are oringal carbs, the only change, about a year ago, was to"GROSE" needle in float chamber ,which are still working great and set to specs. Any help or suggestions would be greatly welcome and needed ....THANKS AGAIN.......DAC

Couple o things come to mind. One, despite your carb setting, (based on your "black" (hopefully sooty, not oily or wet looking) plug observation, you still could have a somewhat rich gas/air mixture adjustment.  I'd lean it up just a little bit and run for awhile and see

Second- check all your emission hoses for cracks / leaks / proper connections. Also make sure none of the lines are blocked or kinked. And, also check your emissions charcoal cannister for blockage and your air pump for dirty air filter and proper air output.. This could be pretty hard to cure without direct observation. Sounds like your pretty close though to a perfect running car!
