Dodge Repair: 04 ram 1500 5.7 litre: sluggish

I was towing my trailer which is an ultra light when the serpentine belt completely fell apart. One of the pulleys broke as well. Once we had it fixed we then brought it to a shop. The mechanic said that all the pulleys were gone and need replacing. We followed his advice and had them replaced. Now my truck sounds like a jet engine and is very sluggish. I also noticed a small leak from the engine that was not there previously. The engine did not sound like a jet prior to getting it fixed either. What do you think the issue could be. It is back at the shop today and am starting to feel like the mechanic is not up to par.

Hi Crystal,
Sounding like a "jet engine" is difficult to diagnose from a distance. If you could use an "ear horn" (such as a rubber hose) to focus your hearing and then locate the source of the noise that would be helpful. Let me know it you do that. The history of the serpentine belt breaking makes me wonder if one of the components that is driven by that belt could have a bad bearing which makes the noise and also cause the belt to break. So listen closely to all the devices that have pulleys driven by the serpentine belt.
On the sluggish engine the best way to diagnose that is to try to get a 'fault code' that the engine control module may have stored that will give an indication of what might be causing that. You can likely get that yourself by turning the ignition key: "on-off-on-off-on and leave it on" doing that in 5 seconds or less elapsed time. Then watch the odometer window to see the mileage be replaced by a 4-digit number preceded by a P. Let me know the number. The mechanic should do that readout as well and then have him tell you what the number is, what it means, and what is the cost of doing that repair. Let me know and we can discuss that before he does it.
The water leak depends upon where it appears to be coming from. Can you describe that location?
I have the '04 manual and can consult that if you can get me more specific information.
