Dodge Repair: 2003 Dodge 3500 electrical issue, dodge service, 2003 dodge 3500

Question
I have a 2003 Dodge 3500 dooley. I have recently discovered that I have a short in my steering column. this short has effected the blower motor for my air condition and I believe it is causing issues with my transmission as well. Is this possible or do I have 2 seperate issues. I found were the short is at. It is in the main wiring harness that plugs into the back of the steering column. Is this something that I can replace or does a dodge service shop have to do this.

Answer
The power circuit from the ignition switch that supplies power to the blower motor also feeds power to the trucks ignition Run circuits, which would include the transmissions power relays as well as others. Repair or replace the wiring to the switch as well as the switch itself. I would also advise that you replace the blower motor as that component would seem to be the source of the excessive current draw that has burnt out the wiring.
