Dodge Repair: Drivers side mirror assembly, crank removal tool, interior door panel

Question
Hi,
I have a 2005 Dodge Dakota. I need to know how to replace the whole assembly of the mirror. It is a manual mirror. My son broke it and my lamp post all in 1 shot. Help!!

Answer
The mirror is held onto the door frame by three nuts. To access the nuts the interior door panel will need to be removed first. I've included the procedure needed to remove the panel. There are no pictures but the outline should be accurate enough to enable you to complete the repair.

REMOVAL

If equipped, remove the manual window crank (2# using a window crank removal tool #1#.
Disconnect and isolate battery negative cable.
Remove the screw #2# at the interior handle.
Remove the screw #4# from the pull cup.
Remove the lower screws #5#.
CAUTION: The door trim panel is attached to the door by molded plastic retaining clips that are integral to the door trim panel. Do not pull the door trim panel directly off of the door or damage to the trim panel and/or the power switch assembly will occur.
Lift the door trim panel straight upward to disconnect the molded plastic retaining clips #6# from the door.
Disconnect the interior handle #3# actuator rod #1# from the handle #2#.
Disconnect the electrical connectors #2# for the window switch assembly #3#, if equipped.
Disconnect the trim panel speaker electrical connector #1), if equipped.
