Dodge Repair: Hood latch assembly, dodge dakota slt, hood latch

Question
QUESTION: I own a 1995 dodge dakota SLT  V6 two wheel drive. The spring on the hood latch recently broke. It looks as if i have to take a lot of stuff off to replace it.What is the best way to replace the hood latch assembly.

Thanks,  Rufus

ANSWER: Either I've misread the question or the question has been mis-stated. There is nothing in the way to block its replacement. The hood latch is held to the upper radiator support by two bolt. Take out the bolts, disengage the cable and replace the latch.

QUESTION: I wish it was that simple. The latch is under a steel body part that is connected to the grill.I tried removing the grill and i couldn't get the latch past the radiator. There is plenty to block the easy removal of the latch.

Answer
First, I must apoligize. Since your question stated that you knew the spring was broken on the latch, I assumed you had already removed the headlamp trim and the grill. My mistake. To access the latch you'll need a T15 and Phillips screwdrivers to remove the grill and headlamp trim assemblies. After that it is as easy as I stated. Again, my apologies.
