QUESTION: Replacing the wiring harness in the overhead console. I tried to remove the old wiring harness but ran into difficulty with the bulb holders. I was able to raise the retaining clip (plastic) and move the bulb holder about half the way out but could not remove it completely without concern of breaking something. I've ordered a new wiring harness because the switches keep separating when I press the lights on or off. I need tips on how to correctly remove the old bulb holders and install the new ones correctly. The light switches are easy to slide in and out so that is no problem for me.

Answer
If the bulb holders will not come out you are probably looking at replacing the whole console. I've had vehicles that the sockets and the fixture become so hot that the pieces melt and deform to the point where the only option is to replace everything. You may be able to save the console by using a very sharp knife and trimming away the melted plastic.
