Dodge Repair: 2004 Ram 1500 4x4 - Temp gauge going up, fluid leak, fan system

Question
QUESTION: I am trying to find out what to check for my ram overheating.  The top and lower hoses are hot and the fluid level is fine, but while driving, my temp gauge keeps going up.  As I have not fluid leak, someone suggests replacing the thermostat.  Where is this located and how do I replace it?

ANSWER: make sure the fans come on first.

QUESTION: The fan does come on.  The fluid is still full, but when I go up a hill or press on the gas, the gauge continues to go up.  Turning the heat on in the truck full force will reduce the temperature reading on the gauge.

Answer
with a load on the engine  U could be looking at water pump not able to move water through the engine as well, build up of stuff in the engine a restriction, thermostat i doubt it  but if u do any work to the engine cooling replace it any way.
If u have the dual fan system with an electric one and viscus's fan  make sure the viscus one spins good when the engine is at a higher RPM.
