Dodge Repair: 2002 Dodge Dakota, negative cable, dodge dakota

Question
I was recently told that I need to replace the Central timing module. Where is that located and can it be done at home or does it need to be programmed by a dealer?

Answer
NOTE: Before replacing a Central Timer Module (CTM), use a DRBIII® scan tool to retrieve the current settings for the CTM programmable features. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic information. These settings should be duplicated in the replacement CTM using the DRBIII® scan tool before returning the vehicle to service.

Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
Remove the trim from the left cowl inner panel. (Refer to 23 - BODY/INTERIOR/COWL TRIM COVER - REMOVAL).
Disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the CTM. (Central Timer Module).
Remove the screws that secure the CTM to the left cowl inner panel.
Remove the CTM from the left cowl inner panel.
