Dodge Repair: Trouble Code interpretation P1698, grand caravan sport, dodge grand caravan sport

Question
Hello- we have a 1998 Dodge Grand caravan Sport Service Engine Light came on.  I bought an OBD scanner and it is showing me code P1698 which crosses to "No CCD messages from the Transmission or Body Control Module (TCM or BCM)"  I am not sure what a CCD message is, but how can I tell if it should have been coming from the TCM or BCM and since it is not coming from whichever one- does that mean that unit is bad? (TCM or BCM).  The engine is idling rough and the dash instruments fail intermittently (once every couple of weeks).  Thanks for any advice!

Answer
I would first check the BCM.  It is usually in the kick panel on the right side of the car.remove and replace the harness plugs checking for loose wires / poor contact, etc.

Do the same with the TCM, many times in modern electronics our problems are more related to connections than failed components....the fact that you state the dash light problem is intermittent leads towards this..

INCIDENTLY........AND IMPORTANT..do not mess with the yellow taped wiring harness...it goes to the airbag and will deploy even with the the car off..
