Dodge Repair: Dodge G.Caravan evaporator coil, replacing a water pump, grand caravan

Question
I just spent almost $2000 replacing a water pump and A/C compressor on my 2000 Grand Caravan.  A month later my evaporator coil went.  The dealer said they would fix it for $1000 which is $300 less than what they would normally charge.  I don't have that kind of money but I am also not in the market for another car.  If I don't fix it, what can I expect?  I know the A/C won't work, but what about the heat and defroster?  I really resent the fact that I spent the money on the compressor and have wasted it in my opinion.  Thanks.

Answer
With a dealer they should have known to replace the condensor.  It could have been damaged during the repair as they remove it during the repair you mentioned.  I would complain to the dealer's area representative.  You can always go to the magistrait and take a small claims suit against the dealer.  If this doesn't remmidy the problem.  you can purschase an after-maeket condensor for about $160 Take it to a mechanic that specializez in AC Repair.  {Firestone, Goodyeay, etc ...} have them replace it and recharge the system.  Shoulg run no more than $320 for tha part and all.
But to answer your other part of the question. NO, the only thing affected by the condensor is the AC.  Drive until you can't stand the heat, it also doesn't effect the heater system.
