Dodge Repair: RE; 00 Caravan Inop Flasher/turn signals, continuity check, turn signals

Question
Took it to simmons and rockwell. I regret doing so now. They told me to start first by replacing the junction box ($500.00 for part and labor.) Then they told me after that if the problem persist that they could check the wiring for a short ($70.00 hr. Could take 1 -4 hours.) They said that where the combination flasher plugs into that the place where prong 1 goes is getting no juice at all. When they hooked juice directly up to the junction box that then my signals worked. They didn't even do a continuity check on the wiring to see if it could be just the wiring. I bought this vehicle from an individual. I would like to know if it could be just the wiring and not the junction box?

Answer
I'm not sure why I didn't catch this before but the DRL only affects one of the two filaments in the turn signal bulb.  The other one is fed by two fuses in the junction block by your feet.  That's where I was pointing you to earlier about the DRL relay.  BUT.. there's a single relay in the power distribution center (block under the hood) referred to as the park/lamp relay.  It provides power to both of the turn signals and is powered by a single fuse (#101, 40amp).  Are you sure that the fuses are good and you checked them using a test light?

Additionally, if the fuse is good then you should have power going to this relay in the PDC (hood).  If you have power then you still could have an electrical problem ranging from a simple fuse all the way up to a power distribution center or junction block like the guy said.

I don't know if the people at Simmons chaged you but it sounds like they were giving you a very real world scenario and didn't want you to think it was only going to be a $5.00 for OR ONLY only to be a $5,000 fix.  They have to spend time diagnosing it and until they find the problem, they really can't be any more specific than what they already have.
