Dodge Repair: front end, lower ball joints, weight shifts

Question
My car started making a squeaky, grinding noise when my cars weight shifts, like stopping or turning.  I took it in and they said I need over $1300 in repairs for the upper and lower ball joints, outer tir rod and struts on both sides.  The noise is only coming from one side.  I realize I probably need a strut replaced, I'm just afraid I'm being taken because I had no idea I needed all that, but then again, I'm no mechanic.  Do you think this sounds right or should I get a second opinion?

Answer
