QUESTION: 3.0 ohv, not dohc or valve.  I changed alternator cause I thought it was bad and the batt light was on. I bought the car from my neighbor, I think he ran it out of gas. I put three gals in it. they took it to autozone they said it needed a batt so I put a new one in, there are a few things wrong 1)the battery light is on 2)the cooling fans don't come on, 3)it stalls out when you press the gas pedal, if you press slowly it will idle up high although if you gas it to much it stalls. I don't know they maybe related problems. When my neighbor had the car it was running good until they ran it out of gas or it just started stalling out on them I'm not sure he is brain dead stupid.

Answer
is the check engine light on ?? gonna need to pick this apart slowly. first, you'll need to put a meter on the battery and let me know what the voltage reading is. should be atleast 13.9 volts. if not, check the connector ( two or 3 wire ) at the alternator and be sure the pins are tight. second, the stalling. there is a sensor in the air snorkle leading from the air filter to the engine 5 or 6 wires. disconnect this and see if it still stalls or runs any better. check these things and get back to me. take care -b-
