Ford Repair: 1996 ford explorer transmission, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

Question
i have a 1996 ford explorer eddie bauer edition. i'm sorry i don't know the correct names for all the parts. where the drive shaft for the 4 wheel drive comes forward into a houseing, i know that isn't the transmission but i don't know the name for it. there is a rubber tube that comes out of the top/front edge. that tube has detached from where ever it goes too. it doesn't seem to be leaking anything, maybe a slow seeping. i need to know what it is called or where it goes to so i can figure out how to fix it.

Answer
hey there thatnks for asking, if this is the part that is attached to the transmission, it is called a transfer case. this rubber hose that you see coming off the transmssion is actually put there by the factory as a vent tube for the transfer case, you may also find one on both differentials and the transmssion but located in different areas, that hose is ment to go no where, good luck
