Ford Repair: Warranty and 65,000 maintenance, extended warranty, itemization

Question
Hi,

My car was running fine and it reached 65,000 miles, and I brought it in to the dealer for maintenance.  I left with a $600 bill and I was wondering why I am getting my 10,000 maintenance when my car is running fine and I have an extended warranty.

The person there told me that in order for your extended warranty to be valid they want to see that you are performing your manufacturer recommended warranty.

What do you think about the above?  Should I have not gone for the 65,000 maintenance?  Should I forget the 75,000 maintenance?

Answer
I would need to know the itemization on your bill? What labor and parts were performed and or installed. It is on the invoice. At 60k miles the timing chain/belt is usually serviced. This is all speculation because you failed to say what your year, make, model, or engine size is. Routine maintenance is part of owning new vehicles as well as used. Trust me, it is a lot easier to do maintenance, then repairs. Fixing problems before they become problem is what that means. I always recommend regularly scheduled maintenance. You did the right thing, I am sure. So may people drive the car until the wheels fall off, never servicing them. And then, when the inevitable happens, the vehicle breaks down, they curse the vehicle, saying what a piece of junk it is.
