Ford Repair: 1967 Mustang alternator failures, fuel inj, stock chevy

Question
Ok, I have a fairly modified 67.  Im running a 10.5:1 306 with a big cam, edel. fuel inj., msd 6al, ign. amplifier, etc.  The problem is i keep getting a warning voltage low reading usually 10 min after i turn on the headlights. The headlights get really bright and then it seems that the voltage regulator overheats and shuts off then the headlights go dim cause im running off the battery.  Not sure what the cause of this is, Im running a stock chevy single wire alt. I have redone all the grounds, omitted the orig. volt. regulator box, changed the headlight switch and dimmer switch, and gone through every wire in the whole car twice.  Ive gone through 3 alternators in about 2000 miles. Should i go with a 100 amp with all the electronics that i am using or have i overlooked something else?

Answer
hey there, there is a good possiblity that you are drawing way to much amperage for those altenators to handle, in reslut you are burning them out, i would go even a little higher than 100 amps, it will not harm anything, but it will cost a little more, I think you should be able to bump it up to a 120 amp, let me know if this works
good luck
