Ford Repair: Will not kick over!, fuel pump relay, inertia switch

Question
QUESTION: I have an 88 f150 320 automatic, I have changed the timing cover, water pump, starter solenoid, hoses, fuel pump relay, external fuel pump, and PCM...but yet it will not start and the fuel pump will not kick on when you turn the key. The inertia switch seems to be fine and the EEC relay, but I can't figure it out. It seems to be the wiring between the relay and pump or something....what do you think bro? HELP PLEASE!

ANSWER: check wires at starter solenoid to make sure none are blown-pull on them and makes sure they don't stretch-if you have power and the eec relay is working then the fuel pump relay should click and stay engaged for a couple of seconds when you first turn on key-if so check for power and ground at the fuel pump if not we have to figure what you are not getting power from ignition switch to eec relay-signal from eec relay to ecm and back to fuel pump relay. you will need wiring diagram and local garage with alldata or mitchell on demand will be able to print you one so you can track down your problem. good luck.

QUESTION: The fuel pump relay clicks on but the fuel pump doesn't and I even changed the starter relay and filed the connections a little for a better connection.

ANSWER: you have to physically go and check for power and ground at the pump if you have this then you have a bad pump if not you have to check and see if power is leaving relay.

QUESTION: How is there ground at the pump? I don't remember there being a ground wire when I switched it, just the black and pink/black wires that hooked into the pigtail.

Answer
the black wire is ground then if it is electrical it has to have or be grounded to work and all fuel pumps have a ground going to them black and pink wire should be hot when you first turn key on-other wire would be ground although most of the time power is the problem not ground but the lack of either causes the same problem.
