Ford Repair: 98 Ford Escort cranks but doesnt start..., negative cable, 1998 ford escort

QUESTION: I have a 1998 Ford Escort that cranks but won't start. It makes a loud buzzing noise when I turn it on but then shuts off on its own. It was working fine this morning and I've recently replaced all the oils. I also didn't notice any indicators turning on at all.

I'm afraid i dont know much about cars but would like some idea of what is wrong. Appreciate the help.

ANSWER: is the buzzing noise coming from rear of car? sounds like a fuel pump or clogged fuel filter-this would not turn on any indicators-could be a relay buzzing but wouldn't be that loud. follow up if you need to.

QUESTION: The buzzing noise is coming from the front of the car...It starts when i turn on the ignition, i'm hoping nothings wrong with the ignition but i'm not sure.

open hood and check and see if buzzing is coming from battery/radiator area if so could be coming from black box which has four relays in it-could be bad box or not enough power or ground check wires around battery especially for a small black one coming off of negative cable see if clean and tight.
