Ford Repair: no defrost, vacuum hoses, ford bronco

Question
i have a '91 ford bronco w/ a 5.8. my defrost quit working but get heat from vents just fine. a couple days after i noticed this my heater core started leaking. i replaced it and got rid of the odor but still no defrost. vent heat still works fine. i pulled out the control box/panel(whatever is above radio) and seen lines connected w/ no wires (vacuum lines ????), under hood on top of my blower motor a similar line is rotted/broke and connects to something that looks like a solenoid(sorry not 2 knowledgeable). this piece has parts that move(an arm that moves back and forth like it might push open vent w/ pressure from broken line) which makes me think it could b the problem. all help greatly appreciated

Answer
first go underhood and fix that hose there are probably two hoses going from outside to inside make sure one has vacuum on it with truck running-then if that doesn't fix your problem check your vacuum hoses under the dash there will be a connection or junction of hoses make sure it is connected if it already is unplug it and feel to make sure there is vacuum on one of those ports. let me know. thanks.
