BMW Repair: hard to start, stalling, distributor cap, cranks

Question
Seems like a lot of e30s have this problem.   My 88 325i has always inconsistent when starting.  Sometimes if turns right over, other times it takes several cranks and a little nudging on the gas pedal.  One day it would not start.  I thought it might be rain we recieved everyday.  However it did it again.  What's funny is it only stalls when I make a left turn under heavy acceleration.  Otherwise, it runs perfectly fine once I get it started. Today, after sitting all day, it started right up. Any thoughts?

Answer
Glenn,
Actually I've encountered more of these type problems from people like yourself on this website in in personal experience.  I've never owned one E30 that had a starting problem.  My problems were all after it started.

I would check the usual suspects like your spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, to narrow down the culprit.  Then I would go on to fuel pressure, you should see 35-40psi at idle, any less then that could be the issue.

 Hope this helps,
 Josh
