Ford Repair: Ford 3.0L Duratec 24v engine light, compressor clutch, ford taurus

Question
Hello.  I have a problem with my Ford Taurus with the 3.0 24v V6.  Two years ago I threw the drive belt which was the result of or resulted in the AC compressor clutch seizing.  Then last summer I noticed the air filter box was cracked and broken.  The engine was starting to run rough after idling for about 15 seconds when warm.  Took it to the Ford shop to get a tune up.  I figured with over 100k it was time for the spark plugs.  The technician told us that one cylinder was 5%-10% down on compression and it was probably due to the broken air filter box and the engine getting some dirt and dust.  He said that there was nothing they could do to fix the rough idling short of replacing the engine in the vehicle.  I have been living with this ever since.  The engine runs just fine, except when at idle when warm, the about 15 seconds the idle gets rough and then about 10 seconds later the idle recovers and everything is fine.  So essentially this happens at every stoplight.  Today I finally realized this appeared to coincide with the AC clutch or clutch relay powering on when at idle.  SO I pulled to the side, opened the hood and yanked two fuses.  One was for the AC Clutch Relay and the other was for the AC PCM Relay.  It appears to have resolved the problem, at least for today.  Am I doing more harm than good by running without those two fuse connections?

Answer
Hello Dan, Take and put your fuses in and then disconnect the battery for 5 minutes. This will clear the computer and put it into a relearn mode to relearn its adaptive stragety and then drive the vehicle. I would try this 1st. otherwise you are not going to cause any harm. Hope this helps Thanks Tony
