Ford Repair: jason, airflow sensor, vacuum leak

Question
jason: working on a 86 taurus 3.0  already replaced the rail regulator and fuel filter. car is hard to start, and when i get it running idle is high 13-1500 rpm? the car will run for a while then die. i can unhook the tps sensor and it will not change the idle at all. still has no check engine light!

Answer
Even without the check-engine light being on, there may be diagnostic codes set.  I'd have a scan done by a shop or parts store.  It sounds like you have a vacuum leak-- listen for any hissing sound coming from the engine and/or spray different areas of the intake with a squirt bottle of water-- when water hits a vacuum leak the engine will stumble or stall.  A bad airflow sensor (next to the air filter in the intake tube) can also act up this way.  Let me know what you find, if this doesn't help we can discuss more tests.
