Ford Repair: explorer frost plug, frost plug, freeze plug

Question
Hello,
I see that I have coolant leaking from a frost plug and would like to replace.
Is this difficult?  I believe I just pull the old one out and tap in a new one.
There is no mention in my Chiltons book.  This plug is very accessible, but
may need to get others harder to reach in near future.

Any input is appreciated.

Answer
Hello Eric,
Replacing a freeze plug is difficult sometimes even on the ones that are easy to get to. There are special tool kits to drive them in, or you can make something, I guess. To get them out, drive them sideways(I usually use a 1/2" drive extension, etc) and pull it out with pliers.
On the ones that are hard to get to, it is just a matter of removing necessary parts to gain access to the plug enough to change it. There is nothing wrong with replacing them one by one, unless you really want to change them all. Good Luck!   Shaun.
