Ford Repair: ford f-150 engine swap, ford f 150, suspension changes

Question
hi,

i just bought a 1998 f-150 with a 4.2l v6, and the motor is in peices, and rather then putting it back together i decided to put a new motor in it. i was wondering if it would be to much trouble to put a 4.6 or even possibly a 5.4. and i was wondering if it would be just a comoputer swap or if i would have to change out some crazy amount of wiring.

Answer
Brian-

Well you'll need more than just the computer, that's for sure.  There will need to be some wiring changes along with the necessary suspension changes.  Luckily your model F-150 came from the factory with those motors as options so you can get everything you need from another F-150 that had either one as original equipment.  It's not terribly difficult, but expect to put a few weekends into it if you've never done a motor swap before.  Hope this helps.
