Ford Repair: engine swap, gibson headers, t effect

Question
Hello. Could you please tell me if I can put a 97 F150 4x4, 4.6L engine in my 99 F150. I believe the heads are different, and I have Gibson headers on mine. Will engine mounts and tranny bolt up? Thanks for your time.

Answer
Mark-

The simple answer is yes, you can swap the motor in.  You didn't specify what kind of motor is in there now so I can't tell you exactly how much work will be involved.  If you currently have a 4.6L motor in there then it's a straightforward swap.  The heads aren't really different from an exhaust standpoint.  The '99 should have PI heads on it, but that won't effect your headers (it will, however, mean you need a '99-later intake that will fit the heads).  Again, whether the engine and tranny bolt up without a fuss depends on what motor you have now.  If it's a V6 you'll need to get ahold of 4.6L suspension parts.  Hope this helps.
