Ford Repair: alternator, alternator, mustang

Question
What's the cause for the alternator breaking down? and is it related to the 99 Mustang THEFT Won't Start question...?
my car has the same issue THEFT light goes on and it won't start,now  my battery just went and i found out it was the alternator... related?
let me know what you think....

  To my knowledge the two shouldn't be related.  That said, my knowledge of Ford's anti-theft systems is poor at best and they seem to be sketchy at best.  The loss of power could have caused a problem with the theft system if that occured first, but if the theft light came on and then the battery went I doubt the two are related.  The only people who can really deal with a theft system issue would be a dealership.  Hope this helps.
