Ford Repair: trouble, ford fairmont, throttle cable

Question
i wrote to you before  but  had  another question. On my 1980 ford fairmont with 45,000 original miles. I'm still  having  trouble with a dim glowing alternator light  that comes  on mainly whe i slow down, put in a gear, or stop, NOT in park(and it seems worse wheni have radio, headlights etc.. on). I had a brand new battery and alternator and the belts seems fine. The mechanics said the alternator is good. But i am still having the same problems  and  when i come to a  stop or slowy down  i lose power. The headlights don't appear to dim . COUld it be anything with my plugs  or if i had my idle adjusted would that help things????

Answer
Ryan, I wrote to you earlier, so read that.  If you idle is set to low, that could cause the light to come on.  Adjusting the idle is very easy.  Take a small flat head screwdriver.  Locate where the throttle cable comes in to the carb.  There will be a screw that holds the lever at a certain position.  Make an adjustment and then take the car for a drive.  Your car should probably idle around 900 rpms.  Plugs will not directly have anything to do with the light coming on.    I hope this helps,    Jason
