Ford Repair: reset ecu/computer on 2002 Taurus, negative battery cable, mass air flow sensor

Question
i changed my thermostat on my car..the mass air flow sensor was in the way so i unplugged it..when i got done i plugged it back in...i went to start my car and i got nothing not turning over or anything..so i took off the negative battery cable for 5 minutes put it back on and still nothing..so my question is there a special way you have to do it or what...all so i put the ignition to on and bumped the starter with a screwdriver and it engaged and turned over just didn't start...its like it not getting fire and fuel..so im guessing its something with the ECU..please help

Answer
Andrew-

To reset the ECU you'll need to disconnect both battery cables, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the "accessory on" position (the last position before the car turns over) and leave it like that for about 20 minutes.  Remove the key and reconnect the battery cables.  If it's an ECU problem, that should fix it.  Hope this helps.
