Ford Repair: Ford starter problem, inner fenders, starter problem

Question
1986 F150 auto trans with 351 engine. The starter seemed weak. It has made a noise when first started and when it was shut off. Someone said the starter wasnt pulling back. I can't really describe the noise, maybe say its squealing. So I bought a new starter and installed it. The engine turns over great now but the squealing noise seems to be worse and louder. Any ideas on what this could be?

Answer
HI Jimmy thanks for asking and sorry about the delay.
It sounds to me like your startor solenoid is keeping the startor engageg. there should be a sloenoid bolted to one of the inner fenders on this truck. it has two connections with 13mm nuts and a little pull connection. Try replacing this. It should be done with a new startor any how. If this doesnt solve your problem there may be an ignition problem holding the startor engaged, that will involve a diagnostics from a dealer or local shop.
Good luck
