Ford Repair: engine block casting numbers, ford 351w, 351w engine

Question
I have removed a ford 351w engine from an old truck.I took the intake off and found a code of " 351  CCP-16 " stamped in the top of the block. Is this the year code?If it is what is it?If not, where do I find the code.

Answer
Steve-

No...those aren't date codes.  That would be far too easy if it was that short.  To be honest I have no idea what that means.  Blocks are usually stamped with lots of different codes and, while I'm sure they all mean something, I'll be damned if I know what they are.  On a typical Windsor V8 you'll usually find the date code on the back of the block, passenger side, right above the starter.  It should look something like E7TE-6015-XX (it in all likelyhood won't be that exactly, but in that format).  Hope this helps.
