Ford Repair: LIQUID GRAPHITE ON SPARK PLUG THREADS ?, spark plugs, spark plug

Question
Hi Steve

A friend tell me that putting Liquid Graphite on the threads of my spark plugs before I install 'em will stop any kind of leakage coming and by passing the threads and especially the liquid graphite keeps the spark plugs cooler.

What's you slant on this Steve. Is my friend NUTS! I never heard of such an application.

Thank you Steve
GOD BLESS YOU

Answer
Ray-

Well...your friend may be nuts...I can't say I know him.  What I can tell you is that I've never heard of doing anything like that, and honestly putting anything on the plugs before tightening them down makes me nervous.  That's not to say it wouldn't work...it's just that it's probably not something I'd try.  I mean the spark plugs can take the heat, and if there's any sort of leakage it's probably time for new plugs anyway.  And plugs cost what...maybe $1 a piece (and that's for some pretty decent ones)?
