Ford Repair: 93 explorer no start, mass air flow, starter solenoid

Question
Until this happened there were no major problems, except for  replacing an O2 sensor and the mass air flow, which I believe have nothing to do with this problem.  Anyhow, I started the truck no problems, drove about 3km to my house and backed it into the drive and turned it off.  About 5 minutes later I tried to start it and it wouldn't start.  When I try to start the dash lights come on, and then when I turn the ignition to start there is only a click sound.  The engine does not turn just clicks.  I tried to get a boost thinking that would help but it did not.  The temperature here is about -15 degree Celsius, there is 3/4 tank of gas and this happened yesterday so I have had no time to check anything nor do I have an indoor area to waste much of time tinkering.  I have a couple theories but would appreciate your input. Thank you very much.

Answer
John,

It sounds like you have a bad starter solenoid. Use a test light on the small wire going directly into the starter. It should have power only while in the "start" position. The large wire should have battery power all the time. If both test good then you have a bad starter.

Good Luck!!
