Ford Repair: 98 Ford Expedition door ajar switch problem, eddy bauer, latch assembly

I own a 98 Ford Expedition, Eddy Bauer model. I receive a "door ajar" reading at inappropriate times. How can I disable the sensors without losing the proper function of the dome light; i.e., coming on when the door is open, going off when the door is closed?

I believe both your dome light and "door ajar" light use the same switch. The switch is located in the latch assembly on the door. They usually get dirty and stick. I blow them out with air and it helps. You might also be able to use a brake clean or lubricant.
