Ford Repair: Coil problem, truck ford, test light

Question
Engine is a 4.9 six. The coil was bad, I replaced the coil, and the engine started up great. I let it run for about five minutes. Later cranked it up and drove about 2 miles and it quit again. I have no fire at the plugs, I am thinking that this coil has failed also. Is there something that could be causing the coil to fail?

Answer
Jason,

What year is this truck?  Ford had 2 different coils and they do not interchange. Also, you need to check your ignition module & pick up coil as they sound more like the problem. Put a test light on the negative side of your ignition coil (green wire) and crank the engine over. The light should flash on/off as it cranks over. If it does check spark directly at the coil tower. If no flash replace the ignition module.
