Chevrolet Repair: Itermittent problem, chevy truck, pink wire

Question
Have a 1983 chevy truck with a 305.  Sometimes it starts and runs fine, other times it will not start with no spark.  It acts like it wants to fire when the ignition switch is turned to off.  Could it be the ignition switch or in the distributor?

Answer
This could either be the ignition switch, or the module in the distributor.  Chances are its the module(spark module) in the distributor.  When this happens have someone crank the truck, and use a test light  on the pink wire of the module to see if you have power, like wise with the ground.  if okay, then the ignition switch is good.  While you remove the cap see what the inside of the cap and rotor look like.  If they are green and fuzzy looking replace them and the module
