Ford Repair: 1993 Ford taurs, ford taurs, inertia switch

Question
Could you please tell me why I wouldn't have any power in the wires going to fuel pump. The car was getting no fuel and wouldn't start and I  couldn't hear fuel pump so put new fuel pump on and car still wouldn't start. I used a test light on all four wires connected to fuel pump. One of wires is black for ground and ground is working but the yellow wire, orange wire, and red wire with black stripe all three have no voltage and will not light test light.

Answer
On your vehicle the yellow/orange wire is the fuel guage sender, the black/red wire is the fuel pump power. The fuel pump power will only stay on for a couple of seconds when you turn the key on, have someone turn the key while you observe the test light. If you still show no power on that circuit, check the inertia switch in the trunk, I think it's in one side or the other behind the trim.

If that switch is ok, could be a bad IRCM,  which is the relay module above the radiator. The PCM is a possibilty, but rare for them to fail. And of course it could always be an open in the wiring.
