Ford Repair: Ford Excursion stuck in park, ford excursion, brake switch

Question
Hey Dennis,
I am replying from my earlier message but I can't find it to copy in...
I have a 2002 Ford Excursion XLT 2wd  5.4L V8
I am having trouble with it not shifting into park.

It will shift into park if I turn the key slightly to bypass the security feature.
I check the brake switch and it was burnt out on the prong away from the
switch part.
I put a new switch in and still didn't work.
It is burning out Fuse 34 Brake On/Off every time I turn the key.
The cruise doesn't work and the Theft light randomly comes on.
When it has come on it blinks 6 times and then 1 time.

Thanks for your help!!!
Tyler

Answer
If you haven't had campaign 05S28 done by a Ford dealer, you should do this ASAP. The fuse you are blowing is related to this campaign, the brake pressure switch on the master cylinder may be shorting out and it is in this fuse circuit.

I think you may have two problems, but suggest you take care of the recall first. If the brake switch was bad, was the connector ok or melted? Any damage to the connector can affect the circuit.
