Ford Repair: Code PO102, obd 2, maf sensor

Question
Dennis,
I have a 2001 F150 Super Crew 4x4, auto, with the large V8.  It recently became hard to idle and would shut off easliy due to the low idle speed.  Within a day or so of developing this problem, it has gotten to the point it will not crank.  I purchased an OBD 2 code reader and extracted the code PO102 having to do with the MAF sensor.  There was only one code available.  Suspecting a bad sensor, I checked the sensor per my Hayne's manual instructions, placing my multimeter in the Ohms position and the positive to the Sig pen and the negative to the Grnd pin.  The meter showed 0L. Before purchasing the sensor, I'm would like a second opinion.  Thanks for any help you may offer.

Answer
If the problem is the engine won't crank, the MAF sensor is not your problem. The MAF measures air flow and has nothing to do with cranking. I would look elsewhere for the no crank concern before buying a MAF.

You may still have a MAF problem, the code indicates low MAF voltage ar closed throttle. Check all the connecting tubes for holes or disconnected hoses, anything that will affect airflow to the MAF.
