Ford Repair: ABS guage and tire presurre guage, ford windstar, 2002 ford windstar

Question
I have a 2002 Ford Windstar, the other day I went to drive it and the ABS light and low tire light came on. I went to the dealer and they checked the tires I had a screw in one of them, I got the tire fixed. They said it would take 40 miles or so for the lights to reset. Well, my miles are up and then some. My husband took off the battery terminal, trying to reset it with no luck. Are we overlooking a bigger problem?. No noises are coming from the brakes. Thank you

Answer
If the dealer fixed your tire the least they could have done is reset the tire monitor!

You can do this yourself. There should be a tire reset button on the dash, most likely in the instrument cluster. With the key on, hold this button down for at least three seconds. If this doesn't reset it, you may have to have the ABS checked for codes.

The tire pressure monitor system uses the ABS wheel speed sensors to determine if and when a tire is low, this may be why the ABS light came on.

Driving 40 miles has nothing to do with resetting either of these systems.
