Ford Repair: 1995 Ford Escort, 1995 ford escort, ford escort

Question
My 1995, 1.9 liter ford escort engine kept trying to shut off on me while driving for a couple of months ago, untill one day while at a red light it just died and would'nt restart. After towing it home, I checked for plug fireing, which all four are.there is plenty of fuel reaching the heads but there is'nt any combustion. It seems to be flooding, because when I remove the plugs they are soaked with fuel. now the engine has good cranking attributes. could you please help me to figure out could be causing the engine to be flooding itself. (Thank You!)

Answer
Have you checked the compression? These engines are good for timing belt failure.

We don't know if the injectors are firing, or are wide open since you mentioned wet spark plugs.

Does the engine turn over normally, or spin faster?

My bet would be timing belt or ignition module. The module not only fires the spark, but the injectors too, controlled by a different circuit.
