Ford Repair: Lincoln LS soft brakes and bad wipers, 2000 lincoln ls, lincoln ls

Question
Hi, I recently purchased a 2000 Lincoln ls v8 with 220000 km for a song!, but it has a couple of little problems. 1. Excessive brake pedal travel. All friction appears to be ok and and fluid level is OK. The car has average stopping power but the pedal almost hits the floor. Is there any possibilty that changing the fluid might cure this problem? Anything I should know about bleeding procedure or will the old "Pump and close" method suffice. I've read that pedal travel varies on these cars because ford had difficulty maintaining the "Lincoln feel" on this model. If I dont get any remedy from bleeding, where should I look next? Master cyl or ABS valve? 2. Wipers. The when turning the wipers off or using them in the INT position, they almost never stop at the bottom of the windshield, always somewhere in mid wipe obsructing your view. It requires the driver to turn the wiper switch backwards (clockwise, The single wipe function) several times until you are lucky enough to get them stopped in the down position. I was told by the previous owner that the problem was diagnosed as a problem with the rain sensor, but that doesn't seem logical to me. I would think the problem is more than likely that power is somehow being cut to the wiper motor too early or the motor is too weak, although it seems to function well in both slow and fast positions. Where would you look first? 3. Airbag light. My airbag light is on. Is there any way to make it go out without taking it to Ford and spending huge $$$$. I have driven old garbage cars for years and I dont really care if I have an airbag, I'm just cheap! Any input on all or some of these problems would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Dave

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
For the brakes I would first try to bleed the system and then IF that doesn't resolve the problem....look for a fluid leak.
For the wiper problem....I would look in to the motor OR control switch.
I would take it to Ford......get the codes for the fault and have that repaired.
