Ford Repair: Intermittant not starting., light duty trucks, multi purpose vehicles

Question
I had a chance to check the starter and it's fine. I was able to check the starter selenoid and found that power for the activation wire did not have any power to it. I did cross the power and activation lead on the starter selenoid and the van started right up each and every time even when the key was failing. When I did turn the key to the start position I could also hear a click behind the dash on the pasenger side. With the electronics I'm not sure what is left besides the neutral start switch and the ignition switch and of course the wiring itself.Again, thank you for your time and assistance. Richard

My girlfriend has an 89 Aerostar with an automatic that on occasion the starter does not turn over. Some times letting the van roll a little well get it going and some times just letting it sit for a little while it well start. Moving the great selector around while turning the key has not affect on it. It does not matter if the van is cold or hot. I did check to see if there are any bad or loose connections but could not find any. Any suggestions at this point would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time, Richard

Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
Next time it doesn't start.......take a 12v test light and check for power at the starter positive cable (+). If it's present....replace the starter.
