Ford Repair: air conditioner, ford contour, orifice tube

Question
Hi - I have a 1997 ford contour four cylinder DOC. My AC puts out very little cold air. The compressor works fine and their is plenty of freon. I asked a worker where I get my parts and he said their is a little plastic screen in one of the lines and it may be blocked. Could this be the problem, or could it be something else? Waiting for your reply - Charlie

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
There are a few things that can cause reduced cooling. One is the fixed orifice tube your friend is talking about....another is the lack of freon in the system. I would suggest that you have it checked for leaks and diagnosed at a dealership or a repair garage.
