Ford Repair: Blown Motor, ford motorcraft, ford dealership

Question
Hi Erik,

Long story short, I ran my car with no oil!
It's a 1999 GT 4.6 Mustang. 100,000+ Miles.

It still runs and does not sound real bad, (I'm not driving it).
One person said I can just have the bearings replaced. Another said, No. It would need bearings, crack, ect.

The dealer wants $6000.00 to replace. I don't have that kind of money.

Should I get a used motor or remanufactured.
I found a company on the web called Rhino Engines, they say they are approved by MotorSport. Have you ever worked with them?
I have someone who can install the motor for me.
HELP!

Thanks,
Kim

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
I hate to say this but I would strongly suggest that you let the dealership replace the engine. First, they have done it before. Second, you are sure to get a Ford/Motorcraft direct replacement. Third, if there is a problem, you have them to blame and not some over night garage.
If you do choose to go outside of the Ford dealership......I would still suggest that you get the NEW motor from them.
Hope this helps,
Erik
