Ford Repair: Ford Explorer Starting Problems, inconsistancy, ford explorer

Question
94 Explorer, 4.0, Auto - Problem started last summer and seems to only occur when the outside temp goes up.  Had no problems during the late fall and throughout the winter.  Vehicle will start in the morning, but after driving to work, it occasionally won't start.  Engine will turn over, may chug a little, and then it won't turn over. If vehicle is left a few hours until later in the evening it will start just fine.  Biggest frustration is the inconsistancy.  Any suggestions?

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
There are a few things that I would suggest:
1. Have the computer system checked for fault codes.
2. Have the cooling system checked for leaks.....this being the cylinder heads leaking and hydro locking the cylinders.
3. Basic tune up condition of the engine...has it been well maintained?

Hope this helps,
Erik
