Ford Repair: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON 2001 WINDSTAR, obdii scanner, o2 sensors

Question
ERIK,
I recently purchased a 2001 Windstar SE Sport. The check engine light keeps coming on. I've hooked up an OBDII scanner & it reads PO172(Bank one running too rich) & PO175 (Bank two running too rich). I checked the air filter & PCV valve. My mechanic thinks it is the O2 sensors, but before I fork out hundreds of dollars on sensors, I would like to know if you have any ideas. The van has 45K miles on it. Other than the light coming on, it runs & drives fine.

Thanks,
J.S.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
With out voltage or scanner readings I wouldn't take a guess and waste your time or money. Have your mechanic look over the engine for the basic tune up condition and also, put a volt meter on the O2 sensors.
Hope this helps,
Erik
