Steering Column Repair: On column shifter wont move, steering column repair, k1500 blazer


Question
I drive a 1993 chevy k1500 blazer 4x4 tilt steering automatic.
when I turn the key to start it, it feels like its easier to turn and then I cant move the shifter out of park.i have tried appling the breaks the parking break nothing works. I  was told by the tow truck driver theres a pin or rod thats either broken or taken.....help I need to be able to drive.

Sorry about your truck.  I'm assuming the truck will not start either.  If that's true, it sounds like the rack gear or the actuator has broken.  The rack gear is the most common part.  Here is a link to the exploded view of your column.

The parts I am referring to are #s 44 or 76.  44 is the most common and easiest to repair.  
We have recently uploaded some pdf & video instructions on our company website (for a small fee) to give you first hand viewing of how to remove, disassemble, and reassemble the tilt column you are talking about. They are broken down into step by step detailed instructions. Although the instructions are not for your exact truck, the column is very similar to yours.
