Ford Repair: 302/ EEC IV syatem, ford bronco, throttle body

Question
Hi Eric, I just rebuilt the motor in my 1986 ford bronco. Upon the initial start up of the motor, the engine will not adjust to a low idle, it wants to jump between 1000-2500 rpms. It will do this all by itself, without touching the accelerator. I got it timed right and after talking to several local mechanics they all say that it may by my map sensor or the sensor/valve on the throttle body? Would you have any suggestions? Thank You ...............JUstin

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question...I'll try to help.
There is a specific idle setting procedure for the engine...Also, if the MAP or TPS sensor was out of range it should set a fault code. I would look in to the computer system for faults first.....If there are none..write back and I'll give you the idle setting procedure.
Hope this helps,
Erik
